Reduce & reuse

One important step towards the circular economy is to reduce the generation of waste. In the circular economy, waste is a resource. In reality, however, not all waste is a resource yet!

Products that are not designed in ways that allow for reuse or high-quality recycling remain waste. The same is true for products, which are designed for circularity, but fail to be separated from the products, which are not. In both cases, citizens play a critical role, e.g. by promoting sustainable consumption and ensuring source separation.

Source separation of waste resources is key in the transition towards circularity and the foundation of the waste management system in Copenhagen. However, in a densely populated city like Copenhagen, not all recyclables end in the correct bins.
